T-shirts imprinted with Biko's distinctive face have become a must-have fashion accessory amongst young South Africans.
For some that is a sign that post-apartheid youth culture still embraces Biko's message of racial pride and African unity.

But graphic designer Mugabe Thugwana is not so sure: "I don't think young people know enough about Biko." .....click here to read more

ending conflict: how meeting human needs can save wildlife

In the space of a month, nine gorillas - more than 1% of the known population of these charismatic relatives of ours - were wiped out. All were from the Democratic Republic of Congo's (DRC) Virunga National Park.......Living at the epicentre of the bloodiest conflict since the Second World War, the mountain gorillas share their habitat with heavily armed militia..........wild meat comes into contact with hungry gunmen, species are slaughtered for food, or for trophies to be traded for cash and weapons.

But these deaths were repulsive for the fact that the gorilla corpses served no use to the killers........On the contrary, it is the very presence of mountain gorillas in the Virunga National Park that threatens them, for the animals draw attention to an area that unscrupulous people would rather have us forget.......

starting out


hi. my name is molly, and i am writing this first post for my friend assumpta to get her blog started. i am excited to have an opportunity to be involved with the global family foundation.


i believe assumpta's vision for change is a couragous and needed intention for the world, and hope others will join in on making this difference.


i will be involved with the technological side, and will try and keep this site up to date with news on rwanda as well as other countries that are affected by war and poverty...
